About
Art & Culture Today is an independent platform for contemporary art and culture, founded in 2016 by art historians and curators Teodora Konstantinova and Radoslav Mehandzhiyski. We create situations in which the complex ideas of contemporary art can be experienced, discussed and connected with the current social, technological and cultural context.
The organisation behind Art & Culture Today and IMAGO is “Contemporary Art and Culture”, a cultural organisation registered with the Ministry of Culture.
Who we are
Our work spans curatorial practice, education, public programming and international exchange. We organise visual lectures and discussions, create exhibitions and curatorial projects, develop editorial and video content, and build partnerships between artists, institutions, specialists and audiences.
Our main initiatives include the multidisciplinary Wide Art Forum, IMAGO International Artist Residency in the village of Tsarimir, and our long-term partnership with Sofia Art Fair. Each develops a different aspect of our shared work: exchanging ideas, providing conditions for artistic creation, increasing international visibility and building a sustainable environment for contemporary art.
Mission
Our mission is to create opportunities for meaningful communication between a wider, non-specialist audience and the world of contemporary art and culture. We do not offer ready-made answers or prescribe taste. We provide context, knowledge and different perspectives that help people form their own views.
We believe that accessibility does not mean simplification. That is why we combine depth with clear language, visual experience, humour and open conversation. Our aim is to turn curiosity into lasting interest, and encounters with art into personal and shared experiences.
